An Executive Visit to Hill of Zion Conclave

The first meeting of the Hill of Zion Conclave No 270 since the resumption of Masonic activity was held at Croydon on Thursday 16th September 2021. The Conclave was honoured by the presence of Wy.Bro. Paul Fitzgerald, P.G.Swd.B., Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler.

Also present was M.Dist.Comp. Ian S Currans, Grand Summus of the Order of the Scarlet Cord, a member of the Conclave, and R.Dist.Comp. Arnold Long, Provincial Grand Summus.

The Conclave was opened by the Supreme Ruler, Wy.Bro. Jim Smith who welcomed all the visitors. The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies was admitted and informed the Supreme Ruler that the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler was outside the door of the Conclave and he demanded admission.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler entered through an Arch of Steel and was greeted by the Supreme Ruler and took the Chair of the Conclave. He said how good it was to be visiting again, introduced the members of the Provincial team who had accompanied him, and invited the Supreme Ruler to resume the Chair of the Conclave.

After the Muster Roll had been called Wy.Bro. Jim Smith was Proclaimed Supreme Ruler for a further year. Wy.Bro. Paul Fitzgerald then Commissioned the Supreme Ruler. Due to Covid restrictions this could not have been done at the Installation meeting in September 2020 under the Rule of Six. The Supreme Ruler then invested his Officers not able to be present at the Installation meeting.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler congratulated Wy.Bro. Jim and wished him well in his time of office.

The Supreme Ruler invited the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler to present Grand Conclave Certificates to Bros. Dejean McEwen and Nathaniel Decker. This he did in a very informative manner.

The Conclave approved a donation of £250 towards the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity being supported by the Scarlet Cord.

After the Conclave was closed and the customary photos taken the Brethren of Hill of Zion Conclave and their guests had a most enjoyable meal together at the Croydon Masonic Halls.
