The 2016 Annual General Meeting - photos and report

The Annual Meeting of the Provincial Grand Conclave of Surrey was held at the Surbiton Masonic Centre on Saturday 28th May 2016.

The Provincial Grand Conclave was opened by the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, Right Worthy Brother Laurie Young who was then saluted under the direction of the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies.

The Chaplain rose to say that since the last meeting David Ian Shelton, a member of Waverley Conclave No 281, had been called to higher service. The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies called the Brethren to order while the Provincial Grand Chaplain delivered a short prayer.

The Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler welcomed all the honoured guests including the Past Deputy Grand Supreme Ruler, Brian Clifford Wareham, holder of the Order of Service to Secret Monitor Masonry and R Wy Bro Noel Grout, Grand Chancellor, who is a Past Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler for Kent. Also present were a number of Provincial Grand Supreme Rulers, their Deputies and Recorders and other brethren from neighbouring Provinces, together with a number of heads of Orders in Surrey.

The Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler appointed and invested Wy Bro Colin Michael Beerling as Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler. The newly installed Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler was proclaimed by the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and saluted with five.

The Officers for the year were appointed and invested. The Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler then re-appointed the Commander and Deputy Commander of his Arch of Steel and was introduced to its members. During his annual address to the assembled members and visitors, the R Wy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler thanked all members of the Province for their continued support and requested them to continue to seek out from their Craft Lodges suitable members for this wonderful Order.

At the conclusion of the meeting members of the Province, their visitors and guests sat down to a most enjoyable luncheon in the Elizabethan Suite at Surbiton Masonic Hall.
